FAQ

Why does my dog need to be groomed?

Keeping your best friend groomed is really important because:

  • It assists with the removal of dead hair
  • It helps maintain good skin condition and allows you to monitor any changes in the skin (lumps, bumps etc)
  • Removal of hair on the paw pads enables your dog to sweat properly & stops hair from retaining excess moisture which can lead to infection & matting.
  • Nails need to be clipped to prevent them growing into the pads.
  • Keeping the coat mat free allows your dog to move freely without discomfort.
When should my puppy first visit?

As soon as your puppy has had its 2nd puppy vaccination.  I offer free puppy visits where they can get used to the salon, have a play and start gradually to introduce grooming - this hopefully makes the experience fun and enjoyable and will lead to a lifetime of happy grooming.

How often should my dog visit?

This depends on the breed of dog - all dogs are different, even from  the same breed.  As a guide:

Poodles & Bichons                       4 - 6 weeks
Shih Tzu & Lhasa Apsos              6 - 8 weeks
Westies & Yorkies                         8 - 10 weeks
Cocker Spaniels                            6 - 8 weeks
Cavaliers                                       8 - 12 weeks
Retrievers, Collies, Springers     12 -16 weeks

 How long does it take?

Approximately 1 1/2 - 2  hours although this does vary depending on the size of dog, condition of coat and service required.
